Snowflake invited me to share an oli (chant) about the arrival of Makahiki, the holiday Hawaiians celebrate this time of year. It begins when the Makali'i (Pleiades) rises at sunset. We honor a time of peace, ohana (family), celebration and games. It is a sacred time for Hawaiians. This chant is a traditional one handed down through the generations.
