2025 (ineffectual whinging redux)

For a while there I was writing and singing a year end song every year but I skipped the last couple years, because a) it's too depressing and b) what's the point.
It's still depressing and pointless but hearing unreal_dm's 2025 (a lot of my past efforts have been to his backing) prompted me to do it again.

I really don’t know what to think about 2025
At my age I guess I should just be happy to be alive
count your lucky stars they say, but don’t do a deep dive you’ll find so many other people struggling to survive

I kinda feel like Carol in episode seven
when she considered accepting her fate
I think we all know by now that earth will never be heaven
we’ve all been too stupid and now it’s too late

The majority decided, the rabble writ large
that things would be better with bullies in charge
splitting up families and blowing up boats
we’ve accomplished so much with our precious votes

They don’t care about you, they don’t care about me
They don’t care about our native soil
Do you think they would be bombing Venezuela
if they didn’t have so damn much oil

Yeah we’re living in times of unrestrained crimes
committed by tyrants with demented minds
You can look for compassion as much as you like
but they like to leave it behind

And even if that’s not a choice on their part
must we fall into their vortex
it seems we’re all saddled with their lack of heart
and anterior insular cortex

Who knows what will happen in 2026
will positive choices prevail

They don’t care about you, they don’t care about me
They don’t even care about each other
They all claim to be bible reading Christians
but they skipped the part about loving one another ...More
